Charities « Andrew Govender Mr. South Africa 2012 (Mr. SA 2012)

As reigning Mr. South Africa, Andrew has to fulfill many duties and expectations. In spite of this, he insists that he is first and foremost, proudly South African and his biggest responsibility is to give back to the community he represents. He started the Andrew Govender Book Club that encourages corporates and the public to donate any books that they have and are not using. These books are carefully sorted and distributed to local schools and homes for disadvantaged children. Considering the education crisis in the country, this book club has received huge appreciation from the community. The Book Club works in conjunction with the Nelson Mandela Foundation. He is currently an ambassador for Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital and Spirit Day South Africa.

He is also involved in an initiative called Grass Root Soccer. This organization uses soccer as a means of creating HIV/AIDS awareness amongst the youth. Also, being employed by Ernst & Young has given Andrew the opportunity to work on their Next Generation campaign which aims at mentoring young school girls.

If you have spare books at home, please donate it, you can contact Andrew via
